My house is a light yellow vinyl siding. What color for doors/windows?
What color door and Windows would look good with that? Thank you.
Go to https://www.pinterest.com/sistereddie/yellow-houses/?lp=true for some good ideas. Personally, I'd repaint the shutters to match the door. Brown sounds dull. But it also depends on where you live. If you live in Minnesota, I would not go with turquoise, a tropical look. If you live in the South, a deep orange might be fun. I live in Denver and there is a yellow house near by that has white trim, a medium grey roof, and dark greyblue shutters and front door. In the dull days of Winter it looks grounded and calm. The rest of the year, it looks happy and lively, especially with colorful containers of flowers near the front door. I am guessing, but I think they used Behr "Solitary Tree" or something close. Awhile ago I took a picture of my house downloading it on the computer and photoshopping it in black and white. Then I colored print outs with colored pencils to get an idea of what colors look the best. It worked! I love my dark grey roof, red brick, white trim and dark teal shutters and front door. Looks very "Arts and Crafts". Good luck! I know what a decision it is!
we have a yellow house, cedar trim, brown gutters and brown door to match with glass storm door . Looks nice and friendly.
Get a cheap pack of multi-color construction paper and test the color families up close and at a distance.

I read one time that traditionally your front door should be a different color from your shutters. This was passed down from the 1800's when large homes had floor to ceiling shutters and the front door was needing to be a different color so company could discern the door from the shutters. I read this in Southern Living.... ever since then, I have always ensured my door was a different color from my shutters.
