Pallet Patio Advice- any suggestions?

Here's my current project...I acquired these pallets for a song and a dance so I've decided to lay them out and make a patio with a connecting walkway. I'm no where near done laying them out, but as I'm working, I'm trying to gather advice as to how to close my gaps. I need at least 3". I can't seem to locate something that size without having to "make" something. Any suggestions?

I wonder if pieces of tile would work?
Or just grouting?
All the previous responses are good ideas. In addition, you could paint it to look like stone.
