What vegetables can be grown with what flowers?

I have beautiful flower beds and have decided this year to grow some vegetables with the flowers but do not know which flowers and vegetables are compatible with each other. If I am taking care of the roses in my garden, then why not the vegetables also?

Marigolds are actually recommended to be planted with your tomatoes. They help repel nematodes, tomato hornworms (nasty buggers!), slugs and general garden pests.

I have never found a flower that hurt my vegetable garden I mix them all the time just plant what you like
there is a book "carrots love tomatoes" also on line sites for table of plants and their companion to be planted with. what one plant takes, the other gives.
