Open Air Gaps in Outter Doors in Texas.

Moxie on Jan 07, 2014I can only guess without a picture, but perhaps are the jamb stops missing? You could add a small wood trim piece to the jamb/frame so that the door closes against the trim, then add the cheapo foam weather stripping to them between the trim and the door so they have something to seal against. Leave enough room between placement of the trim and door for weather stripping to compress in between. You don't want 100% compression either as that could cause the door lock to get finicky. Paint them to match the jamb and the light will be gone!Helpful Reply

Dee on Jan 08, 2014I have the same problem in our utility room. We also tried the foam stuff and you are right when you said it was a joke. I don't know whether it is caused by house shifting, because it seems we did not have this problem before. We live in TX too. so if you get a good answer I would sure like to know. Our jambs are in place, therefore that is not the problem.Helpful Reply
