How can I "glue" a poster on a canvas covered frame?

Hallo out there, I need your help and/or experience.
I have to cover up a large space (39x78 inches) in the entry hall to hide an ugly fuse box. Several years ago I did hang a large mirror over the fuse box. Now this mirror is tooooo heavy for us to be moved down and back up whenever needed. So we decided to buy an art poster.
When we picked up the poster at the store, we were surprised when we were told to be careful when paste the poster on canvas. It might not stay with wall paper glue or other glue/paste on the canvas and thumb tacks make holes .
Has anybody done this before?? Paste a poster on canvas?
Or has anybody any ideas how the poster could be attached to the canvas without "blowing bubbles" and/or does not hold on canvas??
Your help and your experience is needed.
Thanks a million
Hanna

I would prep the canvas first with gesso, or use latex paint. Get it really smooth. Or just get a piece of foam core, glue it onto canvas then add the poster using spray glue. They sell 8' x 4' sheets of foam core. You could just use the foam core to the wall too, just add velcro to the back and wall, its incredibly light.

Then apply a thin even coat of spray glue and add your poster. Squeegee it on to remove bubbles as you go, going to take a few sets of hands. Might want to practice before you do the real thing.

I've used mod podge with success. Just be sure to continue to smooth out any air pockets.

I did the same thing for the same reason. I had a wood frame from an old picture and made a wood frame insert (much like your canvas frame) and used fabric as the "poster". If you use the poster decopage it on the canvas, easing out the air bubbles. Use small hinges on the side of the new picture to open and reveal the breaker box.
