You may need to move them. It is a good idea to move crops so that they get nutrients they need.
I agree with judy. they don't like being planted in the same location every year. You've probably heard the saying, rotate your crops. that is why.
Do you have trees that have grow and now cast shade over the pumpkin patch? Never hurts to amend the soil either.
