Have you done anything at all to your lawn?
There are many great books at Lowes or Home Depot by Subest Press. These books are short and sweet and cover everything from testing the soil to aerating and fertilizing your lawn to make it look Golf Course Beautiful. I cannot say enough about these books. Additionally it gives tips on fertilizing and feeding Your lawn twice a year. In my opinion the $15.00 price tag takes the guess work out of lawn maintenance and saves you a lot of wasted money and undue frustration!! Good Luck!!
The above is excellent advice. I have simply spread 5-10-5 fertilizer twice a year, cut it 2 1/2 inches high, with perfectly satisfactory results.
try compost. also use Scott's turf builder. works great.
Without knowing what your yard looks like, the main thing is make sure your beginning with eliminating weeds first. I always use weed and feed in the FALL with the dry granules and a walk behind spreader. If u fertilize in the spring you will be mowing alot in the spring and summer. Also, good grass seed in the spring covered with straw for sparse areas. Keep your seed watered regularly.
