I had a moss problem in my yard in Connecticut. If you have lots of trees it will be hard to get rid of without getting rid of some trees. Howeve, that's not always feasible. I put down lots of grass seed and epson salt's. Degrassi takes over the moss and the Epson salt help the seeds grow thicker and greener and kills off the moss.
If you haven't had a soil test done you might want to. Usually moss in your lawn is an indicator that you have a shade problem & you need limestone to correct the ph. The best limestone is the pelleted as opposed to pulverized, if you can find a product called solu-lime that's even better because it starts working quicker & you use less of it because a 40# bag of it goes farther than the equivalent amount of the other 2 types. It usually can take several months before you will see any significant change.
Also watering too much with all those trees, it doesn't dry enough before another watering.
In Oregon, moss is a perennial problem. I use Moss Out granules on lawn using a fertilizer spreader. I also find keeping the grass clippings raked up good helps. And I want to rent a lawn aerator this year, as it will improve drainage. I get this at a discount store for 1/2 price... http://www.domyownpestcontrol.com/lilly-miller-moss-out-lawn-granules-p-9456.html?rrec=true
