i use clear epoxy to glue glass items together
is the fork just for decoration? If so, the grips don't have to be tightened very much. Just enough to keep area of fork in contact with glue. You also could try painters tape to keep in contact with glue. If the fork is holding up the plate, turn upside down and prop fork in place someplace where it won't be disturbed until glue is dry.
put just a drop of the e6000 glue on. Then put in place and put a drop of hot melt glue on to hold it in place till the e6000 cures, I let cure 8 hours to be strong bond. I use a drop or two of hot melt and then drop or two of e6000 that way to solve a lot of those little problems.
