I moved a large wisteria, because it was going under my cement patio. It took a lot of digging to get every root without breaking them. The roots were about one to two feet away from the plant. The plant is on a extra large trellis doing fine.
Thank you! I've kept mine small and it's not only on a trellis but up against a wall. The problem is that it's between 2 trees so I have to keep pruning. It never fails to give me gorgeous blossoms and last year, to my surprise, it bloomed two different times. I live in So. CA. I didn't realize the roots were crawlers.
