Do dahlias come back every year?

    That would depend on where you live, what zone you are in. I live in Southern Ontario and the dahlia bulbs have to be removed as they will not survive over winter and re-planted in spring after threat of frost is gone. They can be stored in a cool dark place over the winter.

    They come back up every year in the south with not digging them up until they get so big you will need to separate them.

    Thank you everyone we live in Northern Nevada it gets to freezing at night during the winter so I guess I might have to yank them out of the ground my Iris don't need to be pulled they just spread like crazy

    Air temp isnt problem, how deep ground freezes is, I live in NE Missouri, we can get real cold for weeks but I just mulch mine with 6-8" straw..loose very few...
