Workshop Organisation Rack

I find that in the workshop you can never have enough storage or organisation. I had been using some plastic crates to store things in so decided to make a rack for them.

I used 2 x 3 pine for this project as its nice and cheap. I only had to cut the wood to three different lengths. The 4 uprights, the long bits for the shelves and the short bits for the shelves. It can be made as tall, deep or wide as suites the need of the space.

The long pieces for the shelves needed 4 holes drilled in them at each end. These are to put two screws into the sides of the shelves and two into the uprights.

I made a little template to help mark the holes for the screws so they all looked uniform, then I
could drill the holes.

I used a scrap bit of 2 x 3 as a spacer in the corner to represent where the uprights would go.

With all the shelves made they could be screwed onto the uprights. I cut a block of wood to the hight I wanted the shelves to be and then used this as a spacer to get the gap correct between each shelf.

To line each shelf I cut down some MDF sheets.

The MDF got held in place with a few screws. Then the plastic crates could be slid into place.

Thats it all done. For more information please watch my video. If you enjoyed the video, please subscribe to my youtube channel for a new project every week.
