Do you have anything at all now? Are you looking to refinish, replace, or build?

I agree with Diane Do you have anything and wanting to redo them or starting from scratch? And then it would help to post an example picture of look you are going for or tell what style you like. These things will make a difference on what kind of advice or help you get and will be more customized to you.

2 x 4s, plywood and paint.........check Craigslist, ReStore or the like when people with big budgets buy new cabinets they are usually taking out old ones that maybe you could refinish or paint...Sometimes creativity can be just as awesome as magazine worthy decor - just different!

If you are replacing, You can find unfinished cabinets fairly cheap at home improvement stores. When we were planning our kitchen remodel , decided out floor plan what use we would need (so bought correct size and pcs) and then we bought them 1 or 2 at a time (stored in corner of living room lol) until we had all pcs we needed and the countertops, molding to dress them up and all paint supplies. Then I got to get crafty. Got the finish and style I was looking for less than 500.00. If you can wait buy a few at a time and make some pieces, you will save a lot of money. Counter tops you can use this granite film (going to use in craft room) http://www.instant-granite.com/ seems to be a well made product, easy and inexpensive.
