Sound proofing windows.

The Garden Frog with C Renee on Jan 11, 2014there are storm windows that can go on the outside or inside of windows and google storm windows. this may help. Also heavy drapes may help. In the spring I would see if you can put up a living fence/screen which will help a lot to deaden the sound from the road. Believe or not but landscaping can play a big role in quieting busy streets and sounds. For some living screens you may only need 2-4' of space to have a lush green screen that will provide privacy, screening, and beauty. Good luckHelpful Reply

Buster Evans on Jan 12, 2014depending on whether you wish to block out the use of the window for vision purposes.. when my son played drums inside our small wood frame house years ago the neighbors complained about the noise. we tried a lot of things , and what worked best was the foam egg crate mattresses used in hospitals for patients who are bedfast for extended periods. they are super sound absorbent and can be hung over the wall/window and taken down when not needed. May not be the best looking idea but the sound is definitely squelched out as well as light if that bothers her. also curtains with heavy insulated backing on them are a good block of both light and sound.. there is also a thin styrofoam insulation that comes in sheets that could be cut to fit over the window in a single or double layer, again taken down at will.. Hope this helpsHelpful Reply
