I know that opinions vary, but what's your opinion?!I have great luck w Rosemary plants. Green all year long.
Weeding will get rid of them but if you keep the soil acidic (I use coffee grounds), which the strawberries love, it will discourage most grasses and weeds from coming growing there.
Like Shawna said! Once you've pulled the weeds and grass ( and there's really no way around that part), you can lay straw over any exposed ground. It will help keep weeds down, and will keep your berries off the ground, decreasing the chance of them rotting or being eaten by slugs, etc.
you will have to weed them but like Dee says the straw will help afterwards
I tried landscape cloth to keep the weeds out and protect the berries. BAD IDEA! Don't ever do this! The strawberry runners grew through the cloth as did the weeds and it was a horrible mess. Save yourself a lot of time and agony and don't make the mistake I did.
