Remove the doors and hardware. Mark the doors and cabinets with tape where they go. Lightly sand the doors and cabinets to remove any gloss and roughen the surface for paint. Prime with a stain blocking primer like Zinsser 123. Then paint with your color. Seal with at least three coats with a water based polyurethane. Use a small foam roller and foam brush for a smooth finish.
Clean with hot water and Dawn, rinse with lots of hot water. Let dry. I then also used the Zinser primer, but have a light coat. Not a heavy one. Then the fun part while that has time to dry and cure. Yes I didn't wait, give that a full day. Go to Lowes go straight to the GLIDEN PAINT SAMPLES,. No don't get distracted by all those pretty lights hanging there. That's another days project. Now back to the painting. Pick the color you just love, cause your going to look at it everyday. When you find that perrrfect one run up to the paint counter. Now listen to my experience here PLEASE LISTEN so you don't regret all your hard work in a few months. You tell that oh so cute boy behind the paint counter that you need the GLIDEN. "HIGHEST GLOSS" they have in the "PRIMER WITH PAINT COMBO". Yes I know you sweated over that primer already, but trust me on this one. When you get home put light coats on at least 2-3 don't overdo it. Oh yah don't ever paint when the humidity is high. Ughhh it NEVER drys. Good luck. Remember you are going to end up with a breath taking kitchen that's going to be worth all your work. Take your time. When you get done smile knowing that YOU did it all by yourself. Gigi
Thank you for your "interesting" response. Being 75 years guess I will have to go
right on by the cute boy behind the counter. Come to think of it, I've never seen one there. Mostly old men supplementing their Social Security checks. But, back to the cabinets-I will go and see what I can come up with and try my hand at it.
