Cannot use galvanized pipe for propane. It will break down the zinc coating and plug up the orifices. Also the pipe will deteriorate quicker. In many states it's illegal to use galvanized pipe for gas.
Personaly, I would leave that to someone who already knows what he is doing.
3/8 copper line is the only thing you should be using to plumb in propane underground.

Plastic gas pipe is best and easiest to deal with.
