If you have more than one roof vent on the roof there would be no problem. You would have to create a seal between the pipe and vent.
I did that exact thing at my last house, and it worked well. I hung the exhaust hose several inches below the vent, allowing it to also vent the attic. Adjust the distance by trial and error.
Check city and county codes about venting to be safe. There is a reason methane gas is vented outside. Stay safe, and best wishes.
It also matters if the vent is directly above the bathroom. Ideally the pipe should be vertical for the steam and moisture to go straight up and out. The moisture will stay on the first surface it hits, so if the exhaust pipe is at an angle rather than vertical, the moisture will hit the pipe at the first bend in the pipe, and drain back down and eventually it will rust the metal parts of the fan And cause damage.
