If you are adding just a bit to add colour you can but you can also choose another colour of chalk paint and add bits of it. By adding the same type/brand of paint you will save the integrity of the natural chalk paint.
Yes you can add a small amount of acrylic to the chalk paint. However, if you add too much then it changes the properties of the chalk paint which could result in adhesion issues if the piece wasn't first painted with primer. I recommend testing different ratios on a work board to see what works best. Good luck!
