If you take an unused dryer sheet (fabric softener), rub it on your arms and legs. Put it in your pocket after. Smells good and helps keep bugs away.
Noseeums are the worst! Some people swear by one of the Avon products, but I forget which one it is - hopefully another Hometalker will know.
Noseeums won't bite through oil or grease, so I use Vaseline or Vicks on my arms and legs when I have to be out where the swarms are. Some people use baby oil. This works for sand fleas, too.
