How can you get rid of crayfish in your garden without killing plants?
I know you can rid your lawn of moles by placing a piece of juicy fruit gum in the ground where they are tunneling. The moles can't digest the gum and it kills them.
No any thing applied will kill your plants.
I use vinegar, but its best to cover your plants when you're spraying
Best thing you can do is to add mulch....preferably mulch made in your area - no colored stuff. Apply it several inches thick. If the weeds are really bad, then lay down some newspaper first and then apply the mulch. Do not use any type of chemical to kill the weeds...that will kill your plants as well.
Hot water with a 1/2 cup of vinegar in a spray bottle ... spray it directly on the weed ... good luck!!
If the vinegar is too close the plants you want to keep it could seep down into the soil and affect the plants you want to keep. Weed the areas and put down weed preventer when you start work your garden in the spring. This will hold a lot of weeds at bay. This will not stop the weeds that invade by growing from the mother plants roots or seeds from trees. Mulch will greatly help once you plant or after seeds come up. I leave clover alone in my veggie garden until they get bigger, then pull them up and leave on surface or place under mulch as they put a lot of nutrition back into the soil. I learned that from seeing farmers grow it and till it into the soil.
I use preen usually, but was looking for a more cost effective longer term solution.
