Which is a better placement of the electrical receptacle at a kitchen counter--in the backsplash where the counter meets the backsplash or in the underside of the upper cabinet behind the strip lighting?

We have ours under the cabinet. I like it there.

With backsplash placement you will be moving things out of the way every time you need to plug something in. Higher is better.

Thanks--good point. Will have to weigh the value of convenience with appearance of outlet in middle of backsplash.

Since it's an outlet won't you need an electrical box ? Have you given that thought, will you pay to have that installed in your wall and would you want to have that hole it will leave in your cabinet? I say leave on wall unless you have wiring done it's just the receptacle you will still need a box to house them, wouldn't that take cabinet space?

Thanks for your thoughts. It will be new construction but that is a thought having that box stick up inside the cabinet might cause plates and cups to get caught on the box.
