Love your humor! I have the same issue, but in two 36" wide archways. I need a transition strip that is 8-1/2" wide & 1" high. On one side of my house I was lucky to find wide-plank pine flooring under the carpet. The other side ... not so lucky ... a patchwork of several hardwoods cover by layers vinyl. I'm going right over the top of the vinyl with (untreated) fir PORCH FLOORING! It happens to be the same width as the wide-plank, but I'm not even going to attempt to match up the heights.

@Bonnie Kirschner Oh man, good luck! I guess I was lucky that I only had to do this in ONE place...
