I painted mine to look like brick. I made sure it was concrete porch paint so it was meant to be walked on and would withstand the elements. I rolled on my"grout" color the entire area then cut out brick shapes from stiff craft foam. I made one a full size brick and the other a half size. I dipped in my"brick" colored paint and staggered. It's been 2yrs and it still looks great
If brick isn't your thing paint an area rug
You could do the entryway and the edges of the sidewalk in a brick pattern...and the center of the walkway in a simpler pattern . Here is a picture of a driveway so you can get an idea.
