You can do it!
Its time consuming but very do-able, you're going to need to get some mineral spirits to get started- good luck!!
You can buy kits from Home Depot that actually have everything in them for redoing a floor from start to finish. The dark spots you will have to sand or bleach out with a bleach and water mixture.
