How do I fix my basement door to quit coming apart?
I'm on the 3rd size screws on the top hinge & the bottom hinge screws keep falling out too. The whole thing is loose & keeps falling off. I have to keep opening & closing the door & don't know what to do anymore. Everyone I talk to has a different answer. Could it have not been hung right in the 1st place?

It is possible the wood is rotten, or, has another underlying problem that needs addressed. That being said, we will address the problem as if the holes are just wallowed out. Get a dowel rod a tiny bit bigger than the holes, coat it with wood glue and tap it into the hole, let it dry really well. Do this for every hole that needs it. Use a sharp chisel, or a Dremel with a cut-off wheel, and cut each dowel rod repaired hole off even with the surface around it. Now you can drill pilot holes smaller than the screws to begin rehanging your door.
If the door framing that is supposed to support the constant movement of the door is done incorrectly, the only solution would be to strip it out and redo the door jam correctly. If your repair fails rather quickly, you can surmise that it was done incorrectly and will require a proper jam installation. The door jam supports door mocement, but it, also, plays a part of the entire wall support, so having a correct door jam plays multiple parts in the whole wall structure.
