Depending on how much you want to spend, there are many things you can turn into a fountain. I have seen Terra Cotta planters turned into bubbling fountains. Fountain kits can be purchased from Home Depot, etc.
I used a half wooden whiskey barrel and a pump. I ran the tubing up over the deck rail and hid it with stones. I added free mosquito fish from my local vector control and water plants. It made a great sound.
I used a metal umbrella urn (about 30" tall) from Wal-Mart, a decorative plastic bowl from Marshall's and a solar floating fountain. I weighted the urn with small tree trunk pieces but bricks, rock, sand would work well also. I used Locktite glue to attach the bowl to the urn. Fill bowl with water and add floating fountain, done.
