Tips for painting my front door..?

My front door needs a stripping and new paint job, but I've been intimidated to tackle it. I'm most concerned with the best type of paint to choose and what type of sealant (I'm in Minnesota so our weather runs the gamut from high humidity to freezing cold). I'll take any tips! Thank you!!

I go the Benjamin Moore store and ask them all the questions........then if it doesn't work out.......I can take it out on them!
Use an exterior acrylic paint. It is designed to protect the door in harsh conditions.
I am looking at tackling the same thing soon, and I read that priming very well before painting is also a good idea.
