Howdy!! Mix up a bucket of ivory soap and hot water and about a cup of rubbing alcohol ... you can scrub brush them ... I always try to go with grain of the material ... let them dry in the sun ... sunshine will also kill mold ... good luck! :)
I would use a mild bleach solution on the stains, then wash with a general cleaner like dawn.
Also, if you get them in tip top shape but have to store them again, these little gems from the dollar tree will absorb moisture and you just toss them when the crystals turn to water.
Caution I would not recommend bleach as it may pull the color out of the fabric. I would instead use a mild laundry soap and water and scrub with a brush.
A mild bleach solution and laundry detergent should do the job. Let it soak a few hours, brush lightly with a laundry brush to remove tough mildew.
my favorite is Clorox Clean Up spray. Let it sit for a little while then use a garden hose or wipe with a wet cloth.
i would spray with mold and mildew remover ( like you use in the bathroom)
Bicarbonate soda
And hot soapy water
Thanks to everyone for the advice and help, much appreciated. Will get to work presently and put your suggestions to the test. Appreciation to all respondents!
wet and forget you can get it on Home Depot.com
Another vote here for Wet & Forget.
We use it on our patio cushions, outdoor wicker, concrete, brick, vinyl siding etc. (Although you don't have to, we powerwash the outdoor wicker, concrete, brick and vinyl siding first and then apply the Wet & Forget to keep the mold/mildew away. Works for about 1 year.)
There is no bleach in it so it is completely color safe for fabrics.
