They sell things called mosquito dunks. They look like little donuts and you throw them in the pond and they keep the mosquitos from breeding there. I use them in my pond and they work perfectly. Good luck.

I HAD A TURTLE POND YEARS AGO AND I USED A SMALL FISH TANK FILTER AND PUT GOLD FISH IN IT AND IT DID A GREAT JOB OF KEEPING THE MOSQUITOS OUT. HOPE THIS HELPS.

  • If you have power close by, get a fan to turn on while outside. They do not like "wind" and will not hang around. I have a couple I use for outdoor activities to keep the bugs away if they become bothersome. My friends also use the mosquito dunks with great success. You need to enjoy your koi! They are so beautiful.

Those electronic bug zappers may help. I saw in a Bed Bath and Beyond brochure I got yesterday they even have one that vacuums the flying pests in. Most of them are not unattractive since they look like a lantern. I would also intersperse plants in pots or in the ground that deter mosquitoes like Citronella Geraniums to help keep them from the area. It may take a combination of things like plants, fans and the donut, but do what you need to enjoy your Koi pond. So relaxing!

Mosquitos do not like citronella and smoke- be selective which route works best for you.

Here is a website that offers a few ideas including getting hungry fish for your pond that will eat the mosquitoes' larvae! The moving water from your fountain should be helpful too as it keeps the water moving making it difficult to lay eggs.

Check out the site and see if anything strikes you as an idea that works for you!

If your surface water is moving they will not breed in it. It is any still water spots that are your problem.
