I'm from the North and just moved to TN, would lilacs grow here ?

    You'll need to Google what planting zone you are in first. If you have a Cooperative Extension Office in your area contact them and ask them what grows best where you are.

    Lilacs require a hard freeze if you get a freeze there, they will bloom, or look for varieties that are good for your zone also you can look at Wisteria varieties for your area they climb or can be tree types and can be a look you want, but do not plant them near your home as they can be destructive when they latch onto siding and roofs...

    Absolutely! You'll find lilacs throughout the south (if you were calling them "lye-locks," you'll hear them called "lye-lacks," down here :)
