Apply food grade diatomaceous earth, crushed egg shells,a plate of beer all for slugs.
The egg shell are a good choice. They not only tear the tender skins of the slugs, but they also provide calcium for your garden. I looked up some information in Jerry Baker's gardening books. He said that slug go 'gaga' over graper juice. Here's his advice:
1. Bury small shallow containers up to the rim under the plants (tuna can sounds about right) .
2. Pour about 1" of grape juice into the container and walk away. Check them out the next day. If it is slugs, you will be able to quickly discern.
Take care and God bless
