  • Do you know what it is? I can't really tell from the photo, other than it looks happy and healthy. Not all trees are fast growers.

I don't know what kind of tree it is either. Do you live in a four season climate? All trees have a dormant season, even when it's less obvious in an area with mild winters. If you have an agriculture extension service near you, you can take a picture to them and they will identify it for you. Then you can get more info about what to expect from the tree and what kind of care it needs.

Does it get big white flowers on it? The leaves kind of look like magnolia. If it is, they are naturally a very slow growing tree. This one looks healthy, but if you want to give it a little fertilizer with some nitrogen in it, then water that in, it could help. I don't think you need to worry, though, as many trees are slow growers. Enjoy it!

Perhaps it is a slow growing tree, maybe a type of laurel.

I can't recognize the type, but if you trim the extra small limbs off the bottom of the trunk all the nutrition will go straight to the main trunk and help the growth.

Don't feed Trees ever they take care of themselves, Trees don't need to be fed this is why there is no such thing as Tree food or fertilizer for them, some trees are just slow growing, I have a Pine tree and live in the desert that is 80 ft it took twenty years to get to that, had it a very tiny tree from a nursery, it grew fast for the first two years then just grew slowly but now is a beautiful tree, so just leave your tree alone give it lots of water and a little shake about once or twice a week to get the sap and water going through it and it will be fine
