Sprinkle red pepper around your plants
Red pepper didn't work for me. I went to the dollar store and got several packs of clear plastic picnic forks and put them in the post handle first with the tine facing out. The are not very visible to people but the critters leave the plants alone.
Never tried the forks, good to know. I put the entire bars out for the squirrel in my ceiling over the carport/garden. It has been months and they have not returned! My dogs never phased them.
I mix up hot pepper sauce and water and spray my garden with it. Plants included. So far they've stayed away. They must not like the taste.
