  • Put all your houseplants in the bathtubs and sinks and water really well before you leave. If the house is locked up tight, they should be ok for a week or two. Is there a family member or friend that could come in for you? I generally have someone come in while I am gone, they get paid of course.

I put a few inches of water in my bathtub and set them all in there. They'll draw the water up through their roots. They'll be fine like that for a week or so.

Yes, a next door neighbor young lady or young lad. OR, purchse a soft cheap garden hose, not the cheap expandable kind. Punch holes in it for each plant which needs watering. Turn faucet to low. Best if done with two hoses and each hose is passing the other not running from the same shrub but at the opposite end. If a lot of rain comes, please let your next door neighbor's child know you would be happy for them to monitor it in case it needs to be turned off. I do not recommend soaker hoses as they soak everywhere and also rupture. AND there is payment to the young lady or young lady for this.

Drip irrigation is much better than a soaker hose.

Wine bottles. Water your plants before you leave. Then fill a bottle with water. Stick it upside down in the dirt next to the roots. When they need water, the water will seep out

I pass a long cotton string through my plant. Then I place my plant over a water container with the string passing through a little hole that I make in the water container's cover. Look at my pictures. I use 8 cups container for small plants and 3 gallons for my big ones. It last 4 months.

I also used a gadget called Blumat.
