measure the distance between the two points you hope to join with the semi circle
have a piece of wood large enough to create that space. Place a nail in the spot that, when having a string and marker attached( in the center of that spanned distance)
will create the circle arc that allows it to span the measured distance.
AHA! An arch top gate! Several years ago I put up a fence using premade fence panels. But I wanted arched tops. Take a piece of flexible wood board, slat, longer than than the width of the gate. Make a bow (as in bow and arrow) out of the board with some string. Center the bow across the top center of the gate. Mark you arch. Tighten or loosen the string to make a steeper or less steep arch. I hope this helps.
You need two thumb tacks and a piece of string or yarn approximately half the length of the piece you want . Place one tack in the center of your material with string wrapped around it, then use it as a compass drag the other tack (or attach a pencil ) in a circle while keeping the string extended .
Figure out arch. Put a pin in the middle of whet you want arch tie a piece of string to pin. Pull it taught tie a pencil to the other end and while keeping it taught draw your arch
Measure how large of circle you want and i use the ouside edge of a plate and draw right on the wood and many times have used ,plates , bowls etc. Good luck
