Plant deer resistant flowers. Ask your local extension agency for a list.
Sometimes the deer don't know they aren't supposed to eat deer resistant plants and they eat them anyway!! Basically there isn't much you can do to stop the deer, but trying the plants that are supposed to be deer resistant helps but don't count on it!!
Sprinkle cayenne red pepper on the plants
One year I planted 'deer resistant' geraniums and nasturtiums, deer did not eat them until the second season. Yikes! They even eat the new growth on my roses. High fences around our garden keeps the deer at bay. One year we put fish line on posts around our garden, We put the plastic line at 3 levels. I think the deer touched it before they saw it. Worked for l year and then they jumped the fish line. Deer are smart and always hungry.
