Our children put up a white trellis around it, beach grass in front of the fencing.
You could use pallets to build a wall around it and paint it a fun color or hang plant boxes from it.
A friend suggested fine mesh fireplace screen she I had the problem of the weed eater dust being sucked into the motor and damaging it. Worked well for both covering the ugly and protecting the motor.
