No Fuss Kichen Cabinet Doors Makeover PLEASE!

  • icon About 20 years ago we painted our dark stained cabinets white and the doors an ocean blue since I was doing a nautical theme. I now want to paint ONLY the cabinet doors, to blend I with the wood vinyl flooring with a color call Treeline, a creamy tan/caramel water based latex paint. I am not painting the cabinets. I want to know if I just clean the doors very well, let them dry, is it possible just to use this One Coat Wonder paint that swears it covers in just one Coat. I really don't want to do the sanding this time, just the painting. Is this a good idea? The paint has lasted perfectly for this length of time, but they got to go. Any thoughts??

As they are all ready painted and you are not going over stain there should be no problem with cleaning well and repainting. Can't make any promises as to the one coat, I think that has a lot to do with what color they currently are and what color you are now painting them.

I would say just lightly sand to remove any gloss and roughen the surface for paint. Then paint.

NO SANDING NECESSARY!! use Liquid No Sand. Just wipe it down and you are good to go. Have been using it for years refinishing furniture, the stuff is great and you can get it at any local big box hardware store.

Sure go ahead and paint... just make sure doors are really clean first and Yes I would lightly sand and wipe well. or use the Liquid no Sand ....First..
