What to do in place of broken, shutter bifold doors??? Help?!

Jeanette S on Jan 14, 2014I am one of only a couple of people who love louvered bifold doors!...particularly for closets because the allow air to circulate! And I just like the look of them. Bifold doors come in many forms other than the shutter style (louvered)...even with glass. Go on line and check out your options. Or, look at getting the hardware and put up a sliding barn door style that is so popular right now! These doors can slide along the wall behind a buffet, etc., thus requiring little to almost no clearance!Helpful Reply

Cynthia E on Jan 14, 2014I would go with Jeanette's suggestion of a sliding door. They can be finished in any style and take up so much less room while still being useful and beautiful. Search DIY barn style/ or Sliding doors on pinterest-- just pinned 1 the other day for tutorial on how to make for 40.00 . GL and post new door here so we can see what you decided on. And as to your broken bifolds those can be repurposed into chalkboards, pot racks, picture holders etc. plenty of posts on those both here and pinterest on how to do. Can't wait to see what you come up with.Helpful Reply

Vickey B. on Jan 14, 2014I have the same problem only mine is the cabinet under my sink. The door frames are in excellent condition but the some of the louvers are missing and the stay or sash on one of the doors is missing. Each door has two sets (side by side) of the louvers and while I want to keep the frame i want to do away with the louvers (who wants to clean the door fronts under the sink daily?). I thought about using material which could be changed out seasonally but again, the grime that could collect on the fabric might be an issue. Any ideas of replacing the louvers would be appreciated!Helpful Reply
