Is there a sure-fire way to get rid of Creeping Charley?
I found this article that might help you find out why you have so many without standing water. http://edeck.com/blog/10-ways-get-ride-mosquitos-around-deck/, I know a lot of people swear by planting the specific plants mentioned in the article as well. We are lucky and only get them in the spring and then our climate is so dry they just disappear. We have a screen net that we have up in our gazebo - is your porch covered, is so perhaps you can hang up some screened curtains?
Hi...use baygon mosquito coils
I just saw last nite in to wrap some bay leaves in a group, and then tie them together, and place in a pail, and then burn and this will keep the misquitoes away. I know thtat I mispelled that word, but, I wish you a real blessing. J.
try planting lemongrass
I have lots of potted lavender and I have 2 outdoor fans set on low.
Our yard is surrounded by lemongrass and citronella plants which have drastically cut back the number of mosquitoes we get. Some other plants that work are lavender, rosemary and peppermint as well. Make a spray using plain water and lemongrass oil to mist around your patio when you are outside...and on yourself if you like, and it should help as well.
Citronella candles...So help me, my DIL put some on the front porch railing and the mosquitoes LEFT. Trial and error to find out how many you need for the area to be covered. Her porch railing was about 8-10 feet long.. I think she 3 BIG one, she bought some place...Big enough to probably be good for a couple of years, for medium use.
Your area may freeze in winter, so I'd go with several large pots of lemongrass and lavender. Mint always worked for keeping flies at bay. That way you can bring them in during the cold so they won't die.
We are trying lemongrass pots this year.
Maybe there is an alternative??? that works as well. I was TOTALLY amazed. The mosquitoes started buzzing around, she got the citronella candles out, lit them and bye bye mosquitoes..
I have been using potted herbs (mint, rosemary, basil) and it has worked great here in Minnesota. This year I am going to add a citronella plant. These plants also deter the raccoons.
