How do you keep birds from eating your tomatoes?

    I have heard of using nets successfully, or scaring birds away with shiny objects moving in the garden like mylar balloons or alumimun pie pans suspended from a tree or a post.       Yes, I am familiar with those methods. But the fields of riprning tomatoes shown in the photographs are way beyond protection by those methods. I covered our last years with bird netting but it was cumbersome and we still had to share them with birds.
