Sounds like the Christmas lights where one burns out and it controls the 9 that follow it down the line. If you got replacement bulbs see if you can find the one that controls the 50-either at the end or the beginning of the outage. That's the best I can do--hopefully you saved a set and ,maybe can try those good ones. If they aren't plug in lamps then you are s.o. l. as they say and have to buy new. They are meant to be disposable, not like a regular light bulb and especially if you have them constantly on.
Do you have too many strings attached to each other? Typically most manufacturers recommend no more that 2 -3 attached end to end for optimum results.
Make sure to use the better grade lights that are specifically made for outdoor use...or even commercial ones if you leave them on all the time. These will typically not have as many problems with burn-outs.
Many light strings have a fuse in the plug and come with an extra fuse that gets discarded accidently. These fuses aren't always easily accessible. If the trees are outside consider switching to solar lights. You can even switch to solar inside if the trees are close to windows so the solar piece gets enough light.
