I've got 2 plants at the end of my front sidewalk. There is absolutely no shade, so they get the sun all day. They're doing okay, have been there several years.
As a rule of thumb, the lighter the leaves of a costa, the more sun it can take.
I have the green and white striped host as in full sun and they keep getting bigger and bigger.
most hostas can survive full sun, you'll just need to water it an it more in the beginning until it adjusts.
i live in michigan. and people use hosta's and mainly. there is 1 and i don't know the name . i was told by the nursery where i got it. that the ones with a lot of cream on the leaves can take the sun. they are under the trees up here. personally i don't like hosta's...i got sevelral the plants can be in the sun most of the day. typyes of plants
