Where do you live. All I can think of is possibly shock. How cold is it at night? My guess too much sun on tender plants?
How about if you purchase plants from a nursery that are already a bit more established?
Do not feel bad, I had set out several plants and even though I protected them, we had a solid week of terrible wind, and they perished and I had to start over. I went to a local tomato festival and just purchased plants and fingers crossed, they all seem to be doing well.
Plants have to be hardened off. Put them out for short periods of time daily so they get adjusted to the wind and weather. Bring them in at night until they have adjusted. I do this for a week or so depending on the weather.
Seedlings must been hardened for a few days on a porch .When you bring them outside for the first time they have to acclimate to temperatures above 60 degrees.
I never put tomato seedlings out until they've got two sets of "true" leaves. They're usually about 6" tall by then. Before that, they need to stay inside. A day in the lower 60s to them was probably like a winter blast!
Thank you everyone for your help 💕 I never even heard of " Hardening a plant" I didn't think it would put them in shock for the temp. since we have windows open in the house so I thought it would be the same. Yes I gave up this yr. with the seeds and bought some at the store, but now I know some things to do next yr. 💕
