Why have my Hosta's leaves changed?

My Hosta plants that have been divided years ago from plants my mother gave me from plants that were given to her from her mother. They have always been the variegated leaf( green with white) In the past ten years or less more and more of them have been turning to all green leaves when they come up the following spring and when they do this they have also grown triple in size. Why is this???I have asked numerous nurseries and they don't know why. Could it be acid rain?

That is what I was going to say.
Tried to check that site but the site is unavailable.
The hosts are hybrids that re reverting to a baser rootstock.
I do think that if it were acid rain, they would not be tripling in size. Has the soil changed or been amended?
Let us all know if you figure this one out!
I use Epsom salts,egg shells,and banana peels to feed mine every couple months. Just make a ho!e beside plant and drop it in!
