Get (borrow) a Have-A-Heart trap. Bait it with lettuce. Once you have the critter, transport it at least 10 miles away where there is access to water and let it go. Good luck!
Try spreading around things that have a bad odor like pepper flakes, mothballs, blood meal,etc. That should deter them from your yard.
