There are small pin holes in the oak hardwood floors in my home.
What causes this and what can I do to remedy the situation? Thank you.
Sorry-the holes are in the floor or the wall?
Call your landlord immediately!!!
Best to call a certified person who knows how to handle the situation.
be careful with renting...you do an incorrect repair that later causes other damage......you can be held responsible for all repairs...best to call the landlord as it is their responsibility...if you don't get results...call the local housing authority for an inspector to come out....the landlord gets so many days to do repairs or face daily fines...I own a small apartment complex and know what I'm talking about...you can also go to a bank--open an escrow account...make rent payments to that account...landlord gets the money only once repairs are made...but if you just withhold rent on your own--you could be evicted
Agreed - if you weren't renting, I would say to take a stab at it yourself, but if you repair something, you could be liable for damages if it doesn't hold up. Have you already spoken to your landlord?
Be sure to take lots of pictures of the holes, water, any damage it is causing, etc. while the water is coming in. Include some with yourself in as well, just to prove that it is your home. If possible, also take a picture with the holes, water, etc. along with something that proves the date of occurrence ( a newpaper front page with the date, or similar, screen shot, etc.
Get someone else who holds a position of authority in the community, or someone else that you could trust, who could act a a witness later on if necessary, to verify that they too saw the holes, water.
Hopefully everything will be repaired soon, and it will not go to small claims court, but if it does, at least you will then have proper evidence to support your case.
For any landlord to allow this to happen and to still charge for renting the space is inexcusable.
Call the City for a health inspection
CHECK with a women shelter about places to live. They will help you find somewhere that is safe. This person who is helping you by allowing you to live in these conditions is NOT helping you at all but only getting rent for an unprintable structure!
