I couldn't find a stain. So I watered-down some craft paint in the color I wanted, when it dried I applied wax but u could polyurethane it
Matte finish for the polyurethane?? Your piece is beautiful!!
You can use a glaze over the chalk paint, but the paint must be sealed first (use wax or other sealant) otherwise the paint will absorb the glaze. After the paint is sealed, wipe on the glaze and then use shop towels to wipe off the excess. Glaze comes in a variety of colors. Good luck with your project!
