It depends where you live and what buyers in your area find desirable in a home. I would contact local realtors in your area and ask. Another idea would be to watch the real estate market on line and see what amenities other homes have and watch how fast they are selling. These days it is a safe bet that most people and families want a patio or some sort of outdoor area for entertaining, a place for kids to play, be it a lawn or area devoted to them.
I have a patio, but if I didn't I would certainly want a deck, so if you are considering installing one, I think it is a great idea!
Hi Maria, I agree with Naomie. If you're located in an area that people could enjoy being outside at least a few months out of the year it would be in your favor to add one. If you want even more bang for your buck, check into a maintenance free deck! Not only will it increase your home's value, you will not have to worry about repairs while you and your family use it!
